Carolina Children’s Charity opens Family Tech Center
There’s a new resource in the Lowcountry for parents of children
with birth defects and diseases. In response to parents requests, the CCC
Family Tech Center (FTC) is now open for business. The FTC is equipped with
a new PC, printer, Boardmaker software, and laminating equipment.
This software is very useful in building communication boards, schedule
boards, social stories, and overlays for communication devices. Available
programs allow parents to determine the best format for their child, whether
that is drawings, photographs or sign language symbols.
Parents and people who work with children with birth defects and
diseases are welcome to use the equipment. The Charity will provide white
paper and lamination supplies. Users must provide any additional papers, folders,
Velcro, etc. Symbols and overlays may be stored on CD-R or CD-RW provided
by the user. This service is free to parents and their in-home providers.
Incorporated businesses are asked to pay a nominal fee for use of this service.
The Charity is seeking donations of printer cartridges for Epson
Stylus CX3800, white cardstock, CD-RW and Velcro.
Call the Charity office to schedule an appointment.

On with the dance! Let joy be unconfined!
You make our heart sing, Mayor Summey! The Honorable Keith R. Summey,
Mayor of North Charleston, braved the heat in a celebrity wing-eating contest
on February 9 to win $1,200 in gift certificates for Carolina Children's Charity.
The wings were hot, but the Mayor was tougher than anything our friends at
Wild Wing's downtown restaurant could dish out. He beat out his competitors
by eating 10 hot wings in the fastest time, besting his closest competitor
by four wings.
